Every eleven seconds. That’s how often a business, consumer or device experienced a ransomware attack in 2021. Healthcare, unfortunately, is not immune to such attacks. In fact, per Cybercrime Magazine’s 2022 Cybersecurity Almanac, healthcare remains one of the most cyberattacked industries in the world, with 90% of organizations reporting that they’ve been targeted by distributed denial of service (DDoS) and ransomware attacks in 2020 alone. Unfortunately, experts only expect the number of attacks levied at hospitals and provider organizations to increase in the future. Chris Kubic, Chief Information Security Officer at Fidelis Cybersecurity, said this is not a surprise.
