BETHESDA, MD - June 13, 2005 - Fidelis Security Systems today announced the availability of version 3.6 of DataSafe. DataSafe is the first Extrusion Prevention System and the only network security solution that prevents the unauthorized network transfer of critical or sensitive information across all channels on gigabit speed networks. DataSafe protects digital assets such as personally identifiable information, credit card data, source code and intellectual property from extrusion across all network channels including email, http, webmail, ftp, instant messaging and peer-to-peer communications. While traditional security solutions control who has access to information, they do not solve the extrusion problem. Rather than the traditional approach of focusing on who has access to the asset, DataSafe focuses on the asset itself. DataSafe's multiple content analyzers use a variety of methods¡Xstatistical analysis, pattern recognition and exact matching¡Xto identify digital assets before they leave the organization's network. This direct approach actually mitigates the risks of unauthorized network transfer of digital assets, rather than just reporting on your organization's compliance with internal policies and external regulations. The latest release of DataSafe further enhances the profiles used to identify digital assets. Out of the box, DataSafe includes preconfigured profiles to detect personally identifiable information, including Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and address information; credit card numbers; source code; and specific file types. In addition, DataSafe 3.6 offers tools to automate the creation and testing of custom profiles. The release also includes updates to support Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES Update 4 and MySQL 4. The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) has chosen DataSafe to protect the enormous amounts of personal and financial data it has to store. PBGC protects nearly 44.3 million workers and retirees in more than 31,000 pension plans. This mission includes protecting pension recipients' critical personal information. "PBGC evaluated extrusion prevention solutions, and found that statistical pattern recognition and all channels prevention were key technology differentiators to help ensure the integrity of their operations and success of their mission," said Timothy Sullivan, CEO of Fidelis Security Systems. "The DataSafe Extrusion Prevention System will help protect their information in a unique way, protecting the millions of people who rely on the PBGC for financial security."
