December 14, 2005 Fidelis Security Systems Expands Management Team to Unlock Market Opportunity and Drive Corporate Growth |
| BETHESDA, MD - December 14, 2005 - Fidelis Security Systems, the authority on extrusion prevention, today announced that two security and networking industry veterans have joined the company's leadership team;Mark Miraglia as vice president of sales and Gerald Mancini as vice president of engineering. The two executives join a proven management team that received a first round of venture funding announced earlier this year and is leading the industry with DataSafeTM, the first Extrusion Prevention System® and the only network security solution that prevents the unauthorized network transfer of critical or sensitive information across all channels on gigabit speed networks.
Fidelis Security Systems was founded in 2002 by two technology entrepreneurs with a track record of success;Timothy Sullivan, CEO of Fidelis Security Systems and Gene Savchuk, CTO who were previously colleagues at InforMax, a bioinformatics software company, from pre-funding through IPO in October 2000. Fidelis Security Systems is privately held with external investors including Inflection Point Ventures, Ascent Venture Partners, the Maryland Venture Fund and WS Investments Company. A top-performing executive with a proven track record in sales, business development and strategic partnership management, Mr. Miraglia brings over 25 years of experience to his role at Fidelis Security Systems. He has held a series of increasingly senior roles with both privately-held startups and large publicly-traded companies and for nearly a decade has focused on developing direct and channel sales programs for providers of security solutions. Most recently, he was Strategic Business Development Manager for Cisco Systems' Worldwide Channel Security Group. Prior to that, as Director of Intrusion Prevention Sales at McAfee/Network General, he participated in the post acquisition deployment of technologies, including both Entercept and Intrushield, and drove successful sales programs for these solutions. Additionally, he was co-founder of PlatformLogic, an intrusion prevention software start-up which was acquired by to Symantec, and began his track record in the security sector as Vice President of Sales at Trusted Information Systems which was acquired by Network Associates. Previous positions include sales leadership roles at Dimension Data/TimeBridge Technologies, Sequent Computer Systems, Thinking Machines and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Miraglia brings repeated success building and leading sales teams, national/international and federal government experience, a range of contacts and expertise in the sector, and insight and success developing and executing growth strategies. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola College. Gerald Mancini brings valuable experience in building and leading early-stage product development teams to his role at Fidelis Security Systems. Prior to joining the company, he served as Director of Engineering at Torrent Network Technologies where he led the development of an edge-router product which included software, hardware, and custom chip design efforts. His tenure at Torrent continued after the company was acquired by Ericsson and the development effort shifted toward IP routing products for wireless infrastructure networks. Prior to joining Torrent, he led chip development and system test for Nexion, an ATM switch manufacturer, both before and after its acquisition by Fujitsu. Mr. Mancini holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University.
